PostSubject: Elder Scrolls   Sun Jan 23, 2011 7:59 pm

Is anyone here a big Elder Scrolls? One thing is for sure, I'm big one and after reading my copy of Gameinformer today, I couldn't be more excited. So, for once my S4 excitement gets to take a backseat for a little while. Now this is company that knows how to improve their game in every possible way and still not leave their core behind.

So, who here will be picking up Elder Scrolls V?

Elder scrolls V: Skyrim. Skyrim, the land of Nordes(a brutish race of humans) is to the north of Cyrodil (where Oblivion took place). They say that you can go to any place that you can see. So if you see mountains in the distance you can go to them, completely open world. The game will be 100% based on what actions you make. The graphics are beautiful. They have really great engine for the movement of wind and currents etc. I'm going to stop myself here because I could go on for a while.

If you are looking for a new RPG this is for sure the best one running. Finally, some dragons for me to slay.

Damn that sounds good! I didnt know it would be north of Cyradil. Thats awesome, I like how they linked the games like that.

And Paul, if your looking for a good RPG, Dragon Age: Origins is fucking sweeeet. Or Mass Effect 2 which just arrived on PS3 (by the same people that did Dragon Age. Or you could wait til Dragon Age 2 comes out, in a couple months.

And there's always Borderlands. Its an RPG shooter. Probably my favorite PS3 game cause it just appeals to me in every way, lol. RPG & first-person-shooter? Hell yea.

This is the only image I could find. I wish I could have found a image of the scenery, but I thought I would post anyways, arm detail is pretty good. The thing that I like the most about it, is that the game is still over six months from being done.

You should really check out the new engine they have, it's sounds pretty awesome.

Since its to the north, do you know if its all (or mostly) snowy-terrain?

I watched the video they put up and it sounds and looks like a movie coming out versus a video game.

What? That's definitely not the way Elder Scrolls is, but there is always a good story to go along with the gameplay. Come to think of it they could make a great Elder Scrolls movie. Not really sure what you mean although.

Well here's a quote from the Dev "The northern coast is very icy, and you get these glaciers and snow. And then there's an area called the Reach, which is rocky and craggy, in the western end of Skyrim. There's a tundra, this big wide open area in the middle, where you can see the mountains from the far edge. Within this one place, there's maybe six or seven really different environment looks."

Judge for yourself, I just took these photos from my Gameinformer. I tried my best Wink.

The sad part is that now I'm really excited and I have to wait many months for it.

Haha, yea. Lets see....

I've got Mass Effect 2 right now
Dragon Age 2 shortly
Socom 4 on the horizon
Uncharted 3 hits around the same time as Skyrim...

there's some others I might I would want to get my hands on, those first three should keep me occupied for a looong time.

I'm not the biggest fan of Mass Effect, I just can't get into it. I got bored half way threw the first thing and I didn't give ME2 a chance. I still got a few games to keep me occupied. I haven't finished GT5 yet, and just finally got Red Dead a week or to ago so I will definitely be occupied for a while. At least until S4 comes out. Maybe I will even go back and play Oblivion again.

I would have gone back to Oblivion except I lost that save data when my old PS3 died. I have a Slim now, 320GB, but no backwards-compatability.

I thought Oblivion was a PS3 game. I didn't know that they made it for the PS2, or am I misunderstanding you? I played it on the Xbox 360 and I don't have it anymore so I was thinking of buying it again and re-doing the whole game.

No, your right, its a PS3 game. By when my PS3 YLOD'd on me, i lost the save data and everything.

The loss of backwards-compat was just another minus of having to get my Slim.

I see, that really sucks. I have no idea why they took the backwards compatibility away, but I guess Sony is another subject entirely.

I'm also Imperial. My character used to look like a combination of The Joker and Ronald McDonald. It was kind of creepy.

I hope the Argonians say just as weird of shit as before. They used to crack me up all the time.

Thanks for showing me that. That guy must have dedicated a lot of time to that......it payed off.

I wonder if there is ANYONE who didn't kill him. I personally like making him run off a cliff.
