So essentially I'd still have to buy said PS2 games all over again if I want to play them, correct?
Man, dropping backwards compatibility from the PS3 was a boneheaded move by Sony. They already got rid of Linux support, so why not drop unneeded crap like Netflix, photosharing, Internet browsing, and such instead? It's supposed to be a damn game console, isn't it? What next, will the PS4 be capable of cooking your dinner and taking your crap for you afterward?

That's exactly what they want,, I think all the games will be download only.

Physical media isn't likely to go anywhere anytime soon since not everyone has an Internet connection. They'd be cutting out a lot of their profits.
