Cover system: the only *good* thing in SOCOM 4
Mon Feb 27, 2012 12:34 am
Don't get me wrong, I'm in total agreement that SOCOM 4 has nothing on any of the previous games, but I feel the cover system is a good addition to SOCOM. Obviously Zipper should take the GRAW approach and leave it in SP only, since I know the majority of old school SOCOMers didn't like it and the game's enemy AI doesn't complain.
If a remake of SOCOM or SOCOM II was ever made (which I know is highly unlikely to happen), this would be the only feature I would like carried over from SOCOM 4.
I'm interested in hearing others' thoughts on this.

Every "upgrade" after SOCOM II was no upgrade at all.

What's all this talk about "upgrades"? I only felt the stick to cover system was a good feature.
As far as "after SOCOM II", I felt the weapon customization system introduced in SOCOM 3 added a lot of variety to the game, with different weapons and configurations requiring different tactics to complete a given mission.

i actually think it's a terrible addition to Socom.. It turned the game into a big let's camp behind a wall fest put your crosshairs on me and pop out and shoot kiddie game. No skill using the cover system, all Zipper did was steal another idea from every other game out.
